Team Beyond the Matches

Beyond the Matches has expanded its team to help bring more content and create a space to discuss more about the game. We now have a team of Guest Authors – who cover Match summaries and write the blogs, Stats Analysts– who give us interesting stats, play around with numbers, give us an understanding of the game from a statistical perspective and Team members-who have joined the space to learn, write and share their love for the game. Guest Authors

Vaibhav Tripathi : If there is no cricket in heaven then I better live in hell.

Vaibhav is a mere observer of the game who loves talking and writing about the game. For him, it all started with the IND-PAK bowl out game, that’s when he first saw the Dhoni magic behind the stumps. Since then he has been a keen follower of the game. Writing about the game is one of the ways to express your thoughts on the game. Along with cricket, he also follows the game of Football, Badminton and Kabaddi.

Vedant Vashist : Cricket and sports, in general, is a means for catharsis.

Vedant is a full-time law student and a part-time cricket writer. Ever since he was a kid, the first thing that he picked up was a Red season ball from his father & then after sometime a cricket bat! Though a lot of things did change over the years but the love for the game never changed. he loves writing about cricket because he believes that: If you cannot make it on the ground, you can most indeed write about what happened on the ground. Other than cricket, he follows Tennis, Football (World Cup to World Cup), Basketball (ever since he watched ‘The Last Dance’), Weightlifting, Athletics

Dhinesh Babu :They say Life is a game, and that game for me is Cricket! The game may be spanned in 22 yards but the lessons can be for a full life span.

Dhinesh, also a software consultant by profession, is an avid Cricket lover for last 20 years since his childhood and has almost never missed any cricket event/fact since then. He is a staunch fan of Rahul Dravid whom he dreams to meet at least once in his lifetime. The earliest impact that Cricket had in him can be dated back to 14/03/2001 when VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid pulled off what appeared to be improbable against the Mighty Aussies at Eden Garden, putting a strong message that Cricket is beyond bat and ball and all about Determination and Endurance! Ever since then the game had him in awe till date. He is also a Stage speaker who loves music, reading, writing. He is currently part of many Cricket discussion forums and Cricket review panels like ‘Bharat Army’ and is an enthusiast of Cricket in any form. Dravid, Rowan Atkinson and Bear Grylls are some whom he admires for all his life! He always wanted to contribute to Cricket in someway, be it playing it or in someway related to it. Though being unable to pursue playing Cricket as profession, but still dreaming to be associated with Cricket someway he started pursuing his cricket dream with Pen.

Shubham Kumar: Cricket is a great leveler.

Shubham is a student in Delhi who is enjoying every bit of cricket in life. When comes to being connected to the game he says: “I am an Indian. What could be a bigger connect?” He likes to write about the game because it helps in coming to face with multiple facts of the game. Along with cricket, he has a great interest in reading books and watching HBO.

Prakhar Sachdeo: Cricket is a gentlemen’s game

Prakhar is a reader, a writer, a sports enthusiast, a curious journalist, a friend, a brother, a son, and a struggle all rolled in one. He started following cricket as a kid. As a child he was an avid TV watcher. So whenever TV used to be switched on, he would tune to sports channels to follow cricket. There were times when TV used to be banned at his home. In those times he used to follow cricket via radio commentary or Mobile SMS Updates (90s kids will know better). Newspapers and Sportstar played an important role in his journey. As a budding reader, he used to delve in newspapers and read Sportstar with great interest. It is because of the newspapers and Sportstar that he has developed a taste for sports writing. Safe to say, TV, Radio and Print all helped him in following cricket. he loves writing about this game because cricket writing helps him in expressing himself self better. Other than cricket he has a great interest in Football, Tennis and Badminton.

Stats Analysts

Poulami Das: Cricket taught me it’s possible to win even when the whole world counted you out. There can always be a turning point, not matter how down and out you are.

Poulami Das, from Kolkata has been working as a software developer in the IT industry for the last 10 years. She loves watching cricket and is a fan of women’s cricket. She also likes to play with cricket statistics in her spare time. She started watching the game because of her family and gradually grew an interest towards it. Poulami started following all the matches religiously since she was around 10 years old. She used to play cricket as well since her childhood and continued till her professional life, whenever she got a chance to represent her organization. Writing or analyzing cricket is her way of connecting with the sport more. She feels more involved and attached to it this way. Along with cricket, she likes playing and following Tennis as well plus is a huge music fan. Classical, folk, country and pop-rock are some genres that she loves to listen to.

Shubham Kulkarni : Watching a Test match is actually life lesson for many cricket fans, including me. You get to learn about patience, grit, determination the never say die attitude, the occasional aggression and what not.

Shubham is currently pursuing a B-Tech Degree in Computer Engineering at NIT, Surat. He aspires to become a Data Analyst for one of the cricket teams so that he can have a future in the sport which he loves. Shubham started following the game in 2007 when India won the inaugural T20 World Cup. On his connect with the game, he says: “To be honest, I don’t know what exactly clicks for me but one of the things which I like about Cricket, especially Test cricket is that it gives you a second chance. Everybody deserves a second chance and in Test cricket you get it.” He loves to write about the game because you always like describing things which you understand better and the sole reason he likes writing or talking about cricket is that he understands it better and help others understand it. Other than cricket he follows the game of Kabaddi.

Karthick G: For every life scenario or self motivation, I always think about cricket. So for me ” Cricket is a sport where you can enjoy and also learn new things to be applied in life”.

Karthick is a cricket fan from Tamil Nadu. I’m been following cricket close to my heart for more than 17 years and would love to discuss about stats and facts. He started following cricket in the year 2004 when his father used to watch India – Pakistan series. He started watching and eventually fell in love with the sport. He likes to analyze the game with numbers and loves writing about cricket too. He also has an interest in other sports like Football, Tennis and Formula 1 racing.

Shlomoh Divekar: Cricket enables me to understand how to process the world around us slowly. A game, like our life is a continuous battle and we need to constantly play it.

Shlomoh Divekar is a freelance writer and media consultant. He has previous experience in advertising as an account executive. He enjoys long walks and a strong cup of chai. Living in a government colony was the biggest influence on playing cricket and following it for years. Everyone was from diverse backgrounds and used to play cricket in a competitive manner. Summer vacations were particularly memorable, with a morning and evening session of cricket. Cricket writing is elegant in the manner of how a batter/bowler performs their actions. Other sports often focus on the end results, but cricket is all about the process. He also write about football and food. He is of the say that – Chai/tea is NOT A BEVERAGE!

Divyansh Sharma: Actually watching cricket is my favorite pastime. Apart from being admirer of this sport, I’m a passionate fan of some teams as well.

Divyansh Sharma is a CS engineer. He has very keen interest in playing and watching various sports. He likes discussing and analyzing cricket matches. He would like to contribute towards this blog from his understanding of this game. On his connect and liking for writing about h=this game he says: “I do enjoying talking about cricket in general. I mostly don’t look a lot on in-depth stats but rather like to analyze based on some important moments and technicalities related to the game.
