South Africa vs England 3rd T20I : Match Summary

In the final match of the T20I series between South Africa and England held at Newlands, Cape Town, South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first. Even though England had won this bilateral series by 2-0, this was a crucial one to win for South Africa in order to avoid a whitewash and take the series 2-1.

RSA started off really well with Quinton de Kock (17) giving a good start but lost the wicket early on in the game. England looked in a good position as they picked up wickets of Bavuma (32) and Hendricks (13). Ben Stokes (3-0-26-2) and Chris Jordan (4-0-42-1) bowled well and picked up a few wickets. Even after losing three wickets, South Africa put in a good performance. We saw some exceptional batting from Faf du Plessis(52*) and van de Dussen (74*). Their partnership helped RSA to set up a target of 191-3 in 20 overs. England needed 192 runs to win.

With such a good total on board, we witnessed some quality batting and bowling on the field. England lost its first wicket in the powerplay itself as Nortje struck early on. With Jason Roy (16) losing his wicket, it was time to watch Buttler and Malan in action. Buttler (67*) and Malan (99*) built a 100+ runs partnership in the innings. This partnership was a treat to the eyes as we saw some phenomenal batting shots and some classic display of batting skills. It was impossible for the RSA bowlers to restrict them and find a breakthrough. Buttler and Malan helped England cross the line and win the series 3-0.
