The 2nd test of the Sri Lanka tour of South Africa was held at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg on 3rd January 2021. It was the first test of the year. In the previous test match, South Africa won by an innings and 45 runs. It was a good win for the RSA team as they ended the year on a high whereas SL team who had to experienced too many injuries on the field, looked to mend the loop holes and come back stronger in the next one.
With the New Year and the new decade beginning, both the teams were looking for a good start to the year. With the World Test Championship going on, both the teams were playing to keep their spots alive in the same.
